The rising of competition the Samsung Galaxy S III
By Rigoberto Cruz
“The Samsung Galaxy S 3 innovation, competition, and globalization here you see the lineup of diversity that comes with this android device brought to us by the Samsung that has brought them to the high point that they are in today. Samsung Group is a South Korean multinational conglomerate company headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul. It comprises numerous subsidiaries and affiliated business, most of them united under the Samsung brand, and is the largest South Korean chaebol.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung)
The particular product is the Samsung product that I’m will be discussing is the Samsung Galaxy S III, the innovation, competition and rising of a great debater in the cellphone world. How has it become such a name and came out of left field.
“Advanced. Intuitive. Simple. From the cutting edge technology inside to the stylish design that rests comfortably in your hand, the Galaxy S III makes everything you do easier. Share, multitask and interact with your device unlike anything you’ve experienced before—and on a brilliant 4.8” HD Super AMOLED™ display.” (http://www.samsung.com/us/galaxy-s-3-smartphone/?cid=ppc-)
The Samsung GS3 has really revolutionized competition amongst cellphones due to its rough hard hitting gimmicks used to achieve its place and either confuse or enlighten the consumer, they have used advertising to their extreme advantage in this past year of 2012 no saying names but stating the obvious for the ultimate cellphone company of Apple with their Iphone.
Some links on how Samsung used advertising to their advantage.
“There’s not much room for doubt that the Samsung Galaxy S III is the most impressive Android smartphone launched this year, and it will surely remain at the top of the heap for months. It’s not hard to see its clear advantages over the flagship models from its competitors, as it’s more advanced in almost every way. The European version of this smartphone is built around a quad-core 1.4GHz Exynos 4 processor, which has proved to be faster than NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 chip. The U.S. version, on the other hand, will have a dual-core processor. No matter where this device is released, it will sport a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED screen with HD resolution (which is superior to other HD displays), a huge battery with 2100 mAh, and the Android OS 4.0.4 operating system (Ice Cream Sandwich) backed up by the TouchWiz user interface that’s packed with numerous options for gesture management.” (http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=18989&news=Samsung+Galaxy+S+III+Review)
The privileges that come with owning this Android device is the variety that comes with owning it, seeing as it is sold in a diversifying amount of retailers from Verizon to the some of the newest cellphone retailer like Cricket. What is the difference amongst the carriers nothing all phones have same features just depends on the retailers contacts agreements with its customers with data, texting, phones plans.
The only difference that may occur in features of the phone is the international version compared to the U.S. version of the phone, due to the international version having a quad-core processor as opposed to the U.S. version which has a dual-core processor.
“For years tech pundits have been searching for an “iPhone” killer — a mythical new device that would dethrone Apple’s mighty handset as the most admired or popular smartphone.
It may be already here.
For the first time, Samsung’s Galaxy S III overtook Apple’s iPhone 4S to become the world’s best-selling smartphone model for the third quarter (July through September) of 2012, according to new research by Strategy Analytics. The Galaxy S III shipped 18 million units worldwide, compared with 16.2 million for the iPhone 4S. That’s 11% of all smartphones shipped on the planet.” (http://www.cnn.com/2012/11/08/tech/mobile/samsung-galaxy-iphone)
The competitive nature that has come from these two devices has shocked the world really because nobody was expecting the boldness that Samsung came in with to really hit Apple with all they had. As the videos prior in this report show Samsung did everything in their capabilities to show that a) apples users don’t know why they have a smart phone b) apple users are oblivious to technology and do not know what they want and c)innovation and a new kid is on the block.

“Samsung’s Galaxy S3 smartphone model shipped 18.0 million units worldwide during the third quarter of 2012. The Galaxy S3 captured an impressive 11 percent share of all smartphones shipped globally and it has become the world’s best-selling smartphone model for the first time ever. A large touchscreen design, extensive distribution across dozens of countries, and generous operator subsidies have been among the main causes of the Galaxy S3’s success. Apple shipped an estimated 16.2 million iPhone 4S units worldwide for second place, as consumers temporarily held off purchases in anticipation of a widely expected iPhone 5 upgrade at the end of the quarter.” (http://blogs.strategyanalytics.com/HCST/post/2012/11/08/Samsung-Galaxy-S3-Overtakes-Apple-iPhone-4S-to-Become-Worlds-Best-Selling-Smartphone-Model-in-Q3-2012.aspx)
The Samsung GS3 became a world phenomenon when it came out because of its heavily advertised features which led it to be a hit in its third quarter release. The sales for the Iphone went down once the GS3 was brought to light in the U.S. and it’s very prominent international i9300 version that led it to be a top hit worldwide and drive in record sales for competition against the might Apple force.
Why did I choose this phone? Well I have always been anti Iphone and when this baby right here came out in late June I had to jump on the opportunity but having to wait for an upgrade to get it due to the retail pricing being so expensive I waited till October. Once I got it I made a phone call to my cousin and he told the difference. This phone is really the best android device I have had in my hands out of all of the ones I have had. The GS3 is powerful with letting me keep up with social life, homework assignments, picture taking; videos look amazing on it, movies with its wide and accurate screen, not too big or too small just right. Games are really good the screen is just right in its sensitivity of swipes, super-fast and on point. Once it was in my hands I could actually compete with all the half bitten apple phones surrounding me.
Android is the operating system that runs all these phones and this specific version it being Android 4.1.1 is called (Jelly Bean). All the version of Android are represented by pastries and sweets so from the start of it all from android 1.0 to the newest version of android 5.0 (Key Lime Pie). “Shin responded that there’s been lots of increasing demands from the people to come up with 4-inch devices in Europe and thus this motivated to arrive with mini Galaxy S3. But he didn’t disclose many details regarding the device. He even stated that it is not going to be an entry-level handset. In fact he told the reporters that it will include ‘full form factor’. This device makes an entry into the Android series where high-end devices are generally 4.5 inches or slightly bigger.
Shin further reacted, “We will introduce a 4-inch Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini in Germany on October 11. Europeusers have been demanding for a 4 inch screen device. Few name it as an entry-level device, but we name it mini.” (http://www.androidbeats.in/samsung-4-inch-samsung-galaxy-s3-mini-in-germany/4856/)
This particular phone is very popular in Europe do to its size of the screen and at the time there were hopes of launching a mini GS3 but they stuck with the original plan of just launching the original GS3 to the European community in hopes that it would do well, and as predicted they fell in love.
This is my Samsung GS3 with me in the pic and just being silly I really love this phone, its really helped me in everyday life from sending emails, work, setting dates, etc. as you can tell by my face I enjoy the phone. The flip cover case is specifically made for the phone which brings a cool aspect to the phone makes it looks more business if you are into that.
My cellphone retail provider is Verizon Wireless in which I got my Samsung GS3 back in October, and its ben by my side ever since I believe that it brings out the best with the 4G LTE lets the phone really be able to be used to its full potential, of course the data plans vary from carrier to carrier but depeding on your use then you need to choose whether you need unlimited data or the usual 2 to 5 GB data plan.
“Samsung is unstoppable, celebrating a new sales figures for the Galaxy S family of smartphones .We have to have passed the 100 million devices spread across the global market. The figure has been enhanced by the incredible performance in the latest phone market, Samsung Galaxy S3 , which has surpassed 41 million units distributed. In the past two months, 11 million. As usual in the Korean company, it is important to point out that the figures refer to units distributed sales channels, no direct sales to customers. We can also classify them spectacular.” (http://neogadgetreview.com/the-samsung-galaxy-s-family-spends-100-million-units-in-the-market-41-million-are-the-galaxy-s3.html)
So in conclusion to this extensive look at the Samsung galaxy S III in the terms of globally impacting its users, we need to understand that its innovative, and it has impacted the technological community and has caused the option of just getting the top Iphone. It has really grown into a superstar amongst all cellphones; yes it is in second place behind but the fact that it committed the damage that it did worldwide. It’s a suitable phone for a business person, average Joe, student, teacher, anybody really. The GS3 is a phone that is very powerful and it will take you on a ride that might have you want to stick to this edition of cellphones. It has had people change from the typical Iphone. It’s run by the Android operating system and is equipped with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. Is there going to be a GS4 well the specs came out already but it will never compare to the door/eye opener of the GS3. Furthermore if phones could talk then the GS4 has to kiss the floor that the GS3 stand and walks on for helping make it a phone that people might wait to get with an upgrade or for the diehard phone head by full retail price. The Samsung community has been feeling on top of the world due to such great success this phone has brought and with it still till this day being a phenomenal phone we cannot all but wait what tricks Samsung has under its sleeves. From the raunchy hard hitting commercials to calling Iphone users dumb etc etc we just must wait and see what will happen.
